Corizon Health staff offer expertise at ACA Winter Conference

Corizon Health staff offer expertise at ACA Winter ConferenceThe American Correctional Association (ACA) Winter Conference was held in late January in beautiful San Antonio, Texas. For 146 years, ACA has been one of the premier advocates for corrections and correctional effectiveness. Since our inception, Corizon Health has taken a highly visible role in providing thought leadership and sharing best practices to those attending this organization’s various conferences and workshops. The 2017 Winter Conference was no exception.

From our contract with the Idaho Department of Corrections, Physician Assistant Matt Valley moderated a panel discussion on “Managing an Effective Chronic Disease Program.” Sitting on the panel were Matt’s brother, Director of Operations for Corizon Health in Idaho Ryan Valley, and Nurse Manager Joseph Cardona, RN.

Vice President of Operations for our Behavioral Health contract with the Tennessee Department of Correction, Dr. Mark Fleming, presented on “Identifying and Understanding PTSD in Veteran Correctional Officers. Dr. Fleming was joined by Regional Director of Mental Health for Corizon Health in Wyoming, Dr. Laura McKinnon.

Drs. Fleming and McKinnon again joined forces for “The Psychological Underpinnings of Why Staff Cross Professional Boundaries.”

Our thanks to Matt and Ryan Valley, Joseph Cardona, Dr. Mark Fleming and Dr. Laura McKinnon for lending their time and knowledge, and for representing Corizon Health with such excellence.
