William Wingert (L) with Area VP of Operations Tom Dolan

Educational Coordinator William Wingert demonstrates his CorizonSMARTs by continuously seeking ways to improve his performance and the effectiveness of his role at ISCI. His positive attitude is infectious and uplifting not only to nursing staff and leadership, but to all employees with whom he collaborates. Will is a natural and proven leader who stays one step ahead by making sure staff is current on necessary training to ensure their success.

Will is a helpful team player who treats each person – colleagues and patients alike – with dignity and respect. His coworkers look to him as a role model and he routinely offers to help teammates he perceives as struggling or overwhelmed. Will takes great initiative in staying educated and sharing what he has learned with others. His dedication to the values that make an employee CorizonSMART is the reason he received this nomination and award.

Melissa Ewing takes her experience as an LCMFT and expertly applies that knowledge to help our patients with severe mental illnesses. With patient safety always at the forefront of her mind, she recently took extra time out of her day to provide additional attention to an offender in crisis by reading books to him so he would be at peace before going to sleep at night.

Melissa excels at making her treatment plans match her patients’ needs in order to maximize the benefits of their treatment and minimize their time spent in restrictive housing. Her prompt responses to crises on her unit have directly prevented completed suicides at the facility. The respect she exhibits for her patients and the motivation she possesses to care for the most mentally ill offenders in the state of Kansas are the picture of CorizonSMART values. For these reasons and more she received her nomination and award.

Both of these outstanding professionals demonstrate what it means to be CorizonSMART. We encourage you to take the time to congratulate them and thank them for their many contributions and the wonderful example they are to the Corizon Health team and to their respective communities.
