Correctional nurse retires after thirty-six years of serviceA luncheon recently was held to honor Licensed Practical Nurse Judy Sanders who is retiring after 36 years of service as a correctional nurse in the Missouri Department of Corrections (DOC).  Nurse Sanders shared many stories from her years in correctional nursing and received a VPO Coin for dedication and service from Vice President of Operations Ralf Salke and Director of Operations Cindy Schupp.

Judy started her career in correctional healthcare with the Missouri DOC, transitioning to CMS when the department privatized in 1992. She has seen many changes, including construction of the “new side” of the Tipton Correctional Center (TCC), completed in June 1996, and the very first National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) audit at the facility.

She will be greatly missed by her colleagues, along with the banana bread she frequently brought in to brighten her coworkers’ days. We wish her the very best and thank her again for all she has done through the years.
