April Harvey, a lab and pharmacy technician for Corizon Health at Potosi Correctional Center in Mineral Point, Missouri, was awarded a VPO (Vice President Operations) Coin after identifying that a patient at the facility was having a cardiac emergency.

April was preparing to draw blood for routine labs when she noticed her patient did not appear well. She questioned her patient and discovered that he had been experiencing chest pain throughout the previous night. She immediately called a nurse to evaluate him who determined the patient had indeed suffered a heart attack. He was sent directly for emergency care. The life of this patient was undoubtedly saved due to Ms. Harvey’s careful attention and thoughtfulness.

The Corizon Health VPO Coin was initiated in 2013 by Ralf Salke, Vice President Operations (VPO), in an effort to personally thank staff for service excellence.
