Nursing job fair at Ivy Tech in Indiana sees success with large turnout

Meshella Baker, Director of Nursing (DON) at New Castle Correctional Facility (NCCF); Heather Kitzmiller, DON at Indiana Youth Center (IYC); and Tracy Mills, Regional DON recently participated in a successful job fair at Ivy Tech Community College for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) who graduated in December 2015.

The trio of Corizon Health nursing leaders was able to make some great connections with Ivy Tech faculty, in support of their ultimate goal—getting more nursing graduates into Indiana prisons in order to educate them on the challenging and growing field of correctional nursing. Several students stopped by just to ask questions, having never even heard of correctional nursing. Many students left resumes and requested site information in order to set up interviews after graduation.

The Ivy Tech job fair saw a very large turnout and was a productive experience for those involved. We will continue to grow our new relationship with Ivy Tech, in order to gain even more recognition for correctional nursing.
