Missouri Director of Nursing named ‘Employee of the Month’ by client partner

(L-R) Assistant Warden Billy Dunbar, Krystal Houston, Warden Jay Cassady

Krystal Houston, Director of Nursing (DON) for Corizon Health at Jefferson City Correctional Center (JCCC) in Missouri, was selected as the January 2016 ‘Employee of the Month’ by our client partner. Krystal was recommended for this recognition by her fellow DON, Cyndee Howell, and the nomination was supported wholeheartedly by numerous other staff at JCCC. In her recommendation, Ms. Howell states that, during an incident in October 2015 in which two of the three managers were unexpectedly called away for personal and professional reasons, “offenders, custody staff and outside service partners experienced no hiccup in services, because [Krystal] rose to the occasion and deftly managed all facets of medical operations solo for three days.” The recommendation further explains that this is no isolated event.

In the recognition letter DON Houston received, Warden Jay Cassady compliments her by saying, “You always take the time to listen and follow through with what you promise. You are a talented manager, who never departed from your role as a front-line nurse. You continue to provide direct patient care, completing sick call, drawing labs, and providing personal care for infirmary patients. You inspire your staff with positivity and responsiveness and have earned the trust and respect of staff and offenders alike. You are a team player and communicate well with staff in all areas of the facility.”

Congratulations, Krystal, on this recognition, as well as these complimentary words from both DON Howell and Warden Cassady. Thank you for your dedication to the care of your patients, as well as to the Corizon Health Vision and Mission.
