Recently, the medical department at the Medium Security Institution (MSI) in St. Louis, Missouri received a frantic phone call from the processing area officer stating that Corizon Health Nurse Shaaron Mills had passed out while on duty. Medical staff responded immediately, rushing to the processing area to provide emergency aid to their fellow nurse. Upon arrival, the Nurse Mills appeared to have regained consciousness. Nevertheless, Lacinda Jones, Director of Nursing (DON), suspecting a stroke, quickly dialed 911, taking every precaution to ensure Nurse Mills received the critical care she needed.

Nurse Shaaron Mills had indeed suffered a severe stroke—one which would likely have been more damaging had DON Jones not reacted so proactively and called 911 so quickly. Thankfully, Nurse Mills is now recovering and recently drove herself to her facility to offer a tearful ‘thank-you’ to everyone who helped to potentially save her life. Events such as these show the true spirit of Corizon Health Nurses. We are grateful for leaders like DON Lacinda Jones and dedicated eleven-year team members like Shaaron Mills and thank them for service to both our client partners and our patients.
