Life-saving actions lead to employee of the month recognitions in Missouri

(L-R) RN Rachel Rempel, LPN Lori Switzer, LPN Candice Smith

In a recent email from Kim Stephenson, Assistant for the Deputy Warden of Operations at Chillicothe Correctional Center (CCC) in Chillicothe, Missouri, three Corizon Health Nurses were named Employees of the Month, along with two correctional officers, for their actions which saved the life of an offender who was found unresponsive.

The recognitions went to LPNs Lori Switzer and Candice Smith, as well as RN Rachel Rempel. The nurses received this honor after an incident in which an offender was found with no pulse, not breathing. The correctional officers who discovered the distressed offender performed CPR until medical staff arrived and successfully resuscitated their patient. The offender was then transported to medical, where treatment was continued. Assistant Stephenson stated in an email congratulating the officers and the trio of nurses, “All staff involved performed their duties in an exemplary manner and worked professionally to achieve a positive outcome.”

Congratulations to LPN Lori Switzer, LPN Candice Smith and RN Rachel Rempel for receiving this honor from our client at Chillicothe.
