Corizon Health Nurse of the Year announced for 2015

2015 Corizon Health Nurse of the Year Donna Mendoza (L) and Director of Operations Marcie Burr

Congratulations to Donna Mendoza, Director of Nursing for Corizon Health at Arizona State Prison Complex-Perryville (ASPC). She has been named the 2015 Corizon Health Nurse of the Year, an award given annually to a Corizon Nurse who demonstrates consistent excellence in their practice.

Ms. Mendoza completed her Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) in 2008, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2009, and is just a few months away from completing her Master’s in Leadership and Management. She began her work in corrections in 2007 as a charge nurse, then as an auditor. In April 2014, Donna joined Corizon Health as Director of Nursing for ASPC-Perryville and has recently been promoted to Assistant Regional Director of Nursing for our Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) contract.

Of Donna, her peers have said, “If something needs to be done, she will find a way or she will do it herself.” She is a relationship-builder who can find a way to communicate with anyone or alleviate any stressful situation. As a master of influence management, others witness Donna’s commitment to the Corizon Health Mission and cannot help but be motivated.

We applaud Donna Mendoza for her dedication, her drive and for providing quality healthcare to our patients. We are proud to call her a member of the Corizon Health family and congratulate her again on this well-deserved award.
