(L-R) Regional Director Cindy Schupp, LPN Terri Weiler, Regional Director Mental Health Dr. Elizabeth Atterberry

On May 24 at Tipton Correctional Center (TCC) in Missouri , Corizon Health LPN Terri Weiler noted that one of her patients had failed to come and get his evening medications. She immediately called his housing unit and notified the TCC control center, taking all appropriate actions and continuing the search for her patient. Upon finding a restroom door in the medical waiting area locked, Nurse Weiler had custody open the door. When the door was opened, she found her missing patient attempting to hang himself. He had also gotten possession of a razor blade and had used it to make several superficial cuts to his abdomen. Nurse Weiler is directly credited for saving the life of this patient. For her perseverance in finding her patient and quick actions to prevent him from further injuring himself—Nurse Weiler was awarded the Corizon Health Vice President Operations (VPO) Coin by Ralf Salke, VPO Kansas and Missouri; Cindy Schupp, Regional Director; and Dr. Elizabeth Atterberry, Regional Director Mental Health. She was also named TCC’s Employee of the Month.
