Arizona DOC achieves highest rating with Association of State Correctional Administrators

Chuck Manning (L) and Director Charles Ryan (R)

Only a handful of states – ten, including Arizona – have achieved “blue” status, the highest participation rating with the Association of State Correctional Administrators (ASCA). We are happy to report that the Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC), a Corizon Health client partner, recently achieved the rating of “blue” after much hard work and determination.

The ASCA uses their nationwide, automated Performance-Based Measurement System (PBMS) to translate the missions and goals of correctional agencies into a set of uniform measurable outcomes. Current ASCA PBMS performance standards include: Public Safety, Institutional Safety, Substance Abuse, Mental Health, Healthcare and Academic Education.

ADC Program System Administrator Chuck Manning and his staff “made full participation in PBMS a priority and moved quickly through the colors with outstanding effort and demonstrated results. Kudos to Arizona!” stated Bob Lampert, Performance Measures Committee Chair. We second that!
