National Nurses Week 2015: In Honor of Nurses

National Nurses Week 2015: In Honor of NursesNational Nurses Week is May 6-12, established in honor of Florence Nightingale, a famous English nurse who cared for wounded soldiers by lamplight during the Crimean War. This annual observance presents a reminder and an opportunity for us to recognize the many nurses who are so indispensable to our delivery of healthcare across this nation.

Particularly in correctional healthcare, nurses provide essential care to our many patients in very challenging circumstances. They are confronted with unpredictable needs varying from ER scenarios to primary care to chronic care – and work in OB/GYN, geriatrics, orthopedics, oncology and many other specialties. Their broad abilities enable us to provide thorough, clinically appropriate care to our patients across the country. And they have the added training in maintaining safety and security as they deliver quality care.

We express our appreciation to the over 6,000 nurses on the Corizon Health team; we are grateful for your willingness to share your skills and talents behind bars to serve the patients within our care. We realize what it takes to be ‘not just a nurse…a Corizon nurse,’ and we applaud you for your dedication.

This week and every week, we THANK OUR NURSES for what you do for our patients and for Corizon Health!
