Arizona inmates write and perform holiday play for mental health staffA group of inmates at the Arizona State Prison Complex in Phoenix (ASPC) brought some issues to light this recent holiday season by writing and performing a play for the Corizon Health and Arizona Department of Corrections staff. The play focused on the potential loss of families due to the harmful results of substance abuse, as well as how individuals can overcome adversity and trauma by using their personal strengths, family and communities for support.

ASPC-Phoenix houses mentally ill inmates in need of intensive psychotherapeutic services. All reports state the inmates benefited immensely from their playwriting experience, and staff members were universally moved and humbled by their message.
