Georgia ADON assists former inmate after accident

Wendy Blackwell: Georgia ADON assists former inmate after accidentWendy Blackwell, ADON at Gwinnett Co (GA), a Corizon partner, went above and beyond the call of duty recently when she heard a car strike something while she was pumping gas. As she looked, she saw that a male pedestrian had been hit and rolled off the hood of a car into the roadway.

No other motorists stopped, but rather drove around the man. However, Wendy ran out into the roadway to render medical assistance. She was concerned that he would be struck again by passing vehicles driving around the accident scene, and immediately implemented cervical stabilization and worked to keep him still.

The driver who struck the man called 911 while Wendy, and later a nursing student who stopped, attended the victim’s injuries. During the course of conversation, he stated he had just recently been released from the Gwinnett County Detention Center. He was transported to the ER for continued care.

Our Corizon nurses go above and beyond on and OFF the clock! Great work, Wendy!
