Prince George’s County supports Pencil Box Project

Corizon Maryland DOC Prince George’s County supports Pencil Box Project

Corizon and DOC Staff distributing supplies

Over the years, Prince George’s County (MD), a Corizon partner, has supported the Pencil Box Project initiative by the Department of Corrections. The Pencil Box Project raises funds to buy school supplies for students attending Prince George’s County schools. The program helps students who attend three elementary schools located in County Executive Rushern Baker’s Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative (TNI) area of Glassmanor-Oxon Hill. The TNI focuses mainly on uplifting neighborhoods in the county that face significant economic, health, public safety and educational challenges.

Corizon’s ongoing financial and human resources support are widely appreciated by Director Mary Lou McDonough and the Department of Corrections. In late August, Corizon staff, along with DOC management, distributed school supplies to students at the Barnaby Manor Elementary School in Oxon Hill. We are honored to be an integral part of the Pencil Box Project and we are excited and happy to bring a smile and new school supplies to these children!
