Tennessee Corizon employee takes home national gold

John Trainer - Tennessee Corizon employee takes home national goldJohn Trainer, a mental health professional for the Tennessee DOC, a Corizon partner, recently competed in the National Senior Olympics in Cleveland, Ohio. Not only did he compete, but he brought home gold – THREE times!

John competed in several of the swimming events, including backstroke and free style. He took gold in all three of his backstroke events – the 200m, 100m and 50m! His times were a six-year best, which he says is a great personal accomplishment for his age. John trained for his events by swimming 2,000m (about 40 down-and-back laps of the pool) four times a week and also does “land-work” (weight training) with a personal trainer.

To compete in the games, John had to qualify at local and then state finals to participate at the national level. In June, he set five state records (two in free style and three in the back stroke)! Over 28,000 people attended the games.

Congratulations, John! What an accomplishment!
