New year, new you? Top resolutions for 2013

New Year, new you? Top Resolutions Corizon Correctional Healthcare graphicAccording to the University of Scranton, Journal of Clinical Psychology, only around 45% of Americans even take the time to make a New Year’s Resolution.

And, of the 45% of us, only 8% are successful in achieving that resolution. This is not exactly encouragement to start 2013 with any positive changes in your life. Why set yourself up to fail?

Well…on a positive note, people who make resolutions are ten times more likely to attain their goals than people who don’t make resolutions. And, according to Dr. Maxwell Maltz, author of Psycho-Cybernetics, “human beings have a built-in goal-seeking ‘success mechanism’ that is part of the subconscious mind. It is constantly searching for ways to help us reach our targets and find answers to our problems.” According to Maltz, we WORK and FEEL better when our success mechanism is fully engaged going after clear targets.

So, take time to make resolutions! Give yourself or your team a goal for the year and watch that “success mechanism” go!
