St. Clair Corizon staff get the knots out

St. Clair Corizon staff get the knots outThe medical staff at St. Clair Correctional Facility (AL), a Corizon partner, was recently treated to on-site therapeutic massages. Birmingham based Virginia College, School of Therapeutic Massage, supplied the therapists, massage chairs and a free 15-minute neck and back massage. Clayton Wheat, HSA, set up the therapy session for an employee appreciation day. “The staff work very hard and I wanted to do something different to show my appreciation for the dedication and outstanding effort they put forth everyday,” said Wheat. St. Clair houses over 1,300 max. Security prisoners and is the states main facility for nearly 50 full-time dialysis inmates, along with a 24-bed infirmary staffed 24/7.

The staff was slightly hesitant at first, but after the first group had come back and reported how great the massages were, everyone started to get excited about their turn. Many of the staff was overheard, after the massage, stating how relaxed they felt and asked when the next time the therapists would be back. “This is something we will definitely schedule again in the near future,” noted Mr. Wheat (as he was getting his free massage!).

Virginia College offers free therapeutic massages to businesses around the area. The students must complete a number of clinical hours and this is one of the ways they can complete them.
