Lea County Correctional Facility nurse recognized for outstanding work

Lea County Correctional Facility

Lea County Correctional Facility (NM), a Corizon facility, recently awarded some outstanding individuals at their site.  Stephanie Patrick, DON, was awarded ‘RN of the Year’ and was recognized for her hard work and for teaching and coaching the nursing staff.

LaKeasha Stewart, LPN, was recognized as ‘LPN of the Year’ for her work outside of the site where she found an unconscious motorcyclist on the side of the road and stayed with the man until he was life-flighted by helicopter for medical care.

Don Douglas, HSA at Lea County, said he is “grateful to have nurses this outstanding” on staff. Congratulations to both of you!

 

Chillicothe Correctional Center nurse recognized for outstanding work

Chillicothe Correctional Center

Chillicothe Correctional Center (MO), a Corizon facility, held a Lifesaver Award Ceremony where Twila Coldiron, RN and four correctional officers were honored for their lifesaving efforts during a Code 16 at the facility. A Code 16 was called on a non-responsive offender and CPR was already in progress by custody. CPR and AED analyzing continued until paramedics arrived on the scene. Although the patient did not recover, the efforts by Nurse Coldiron were outstanding. Keep up the great work, Twila.

 

Dona Ana County Detention Center nurse recognized for outstanding work

Doña Ana County Detention Center

Tammy Jo Rush, Mental Health RN at Doña Ana County Detention Center (NM) a Corizon facility, was the 1st place winner in the 2012 Corizon Spotlight on Correctional Nursing for the Western Region. She was chosen as the winner by our Nursing Leadership Council. Among other qualities, the prize was awarded based on impact of care on patients and demonstration of the Corizon Values.

Jennifer Slencak, Regional Clinical Services Manager, said, “Tammy Jo’s compassion and exemplary nursing skills inspire all who work with her.” This award put Tammy in the running to win the Corporate Grand Prize of $500 and a paid trip to the Nursing Leadership Council at Corporate Headquarters!
