Corizon announces new Chief Mental Health Officer

BRENTWOOD, Tenn., (June 4, 2012)Corizon, the nation’s leader in correctional healthcare solutions, announced today the promotion of Joe Pastor, M.D. to Chief Mental Health Officer.

In his new role, effective immediately, Dr. Pastor will supervise the Corizon Behavioral Healthcare team and provide consultation for inmate patient care and mental health staff in jails and prisons. He will also provide consult to Corizon psychiatrists nationwide, and serve on Corizon’s Specialty Panel of Physicians.

Dr. Pastor has worked in correctional healthcare since 1997, serving various facilities in both Ohio and Colorado. He joined Corizon in 2009 as the Associate Chief Mental Health Officer/Chief of Psychiatry and was promoted to Vice President Behavioral Health in 2011.

Dr. Pastor earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed fellowships in child and adolescent psychiatry at both Brown University and Harvard University. He served as President of the Colorado Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Society (CCAPS) in 2007 and is a Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP). He holds active licenses to practice medicine in Arizona, Tennessee, Virginia, Michigan, Colorado, Massachusetts and Ohio.

In addition to his role as Chief Mental Health Officer and general psychiatrist at Corizon, Dr. Pastor also serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Pastor’s primary location will be in Brentwood, Tenn., at Corizon’s corporate headquarters, and he will report directly to Keldie.
