Washoe County receives award

Washoe County receives awardThe Washoe County Sheriff’s office was selected to receive the first ACE award presented by the International Prevention of In-Custody Death Organization. Submissions of video and/or reports documenting “Acute Chaotic Events” or “Excited Delirium” cases were sent in from around the world and The Washoe County Sheriff’s office was selected for the award. Their submission was based on a recent case where an inmate, under the influence of a substance, presented at the center in a chaotic state. The inmate fought with law enforcement causing him to be tased twice during arrest. During the encounter, the subject became unresponsive, which prompted action by staff for a person in a dire medical emergency. Excellent show of care by the Washoe County Sheriff’s office staff!
