St. Lucie County staff, a Corizon facility, goes above and beyond

St. Lucie County staff, a Corizon facility, goes above and beyondThe medical staff at the St. Lucie County Jail, a Corizon facility, in Fort Pierce, Florida, recently received praise from not only Sheriff Mascara, but also a female inmate, for their exceptional care in a life and death matter.

After a female inmate was taken to the local hospital for symptoms stemming from what hospitals thought was a miscarriage, the medical staff of Corizon were not satisfied. After further reviewing the female inmates’ chart, it was determined she was suffering from an ectopic pregnancy, which if left untreated, can cause serious injury or death. Because of the dedication of the Corizon staff, a woman’s life was saved. The female inmate was so thankful and took the time to express her gratitude and appreciation in a letter to staff, stating that staff had been “amazing,” and “everyone is always making sure I’m okay.”

Sheriff Mascara also acknowledged staff stating that, “Corizon continues to be an exemplary partner with St. Lucie County Sheriff’s office in the delivery of quality medical services to the inmates…”
